2009-2010
What have you been doing with your life since graduating from Youth2Youth?
I graduated from UW-Whitewater with a BSE in early childhood education, receiving dual licensure in regular and special education for children birth through age 8. While in college I became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I am now a full time teacher at Robinson Elementary in 4k.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of never giving up in college regardless of the circumstances. I struggled for 2 semesters and started to question myself and how successful I would be, but I went to a mentor from high school who encouraged me to keep going until I graduated. Now that I’m a teacher I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
How have skills you learned in Youth2Youth helped you in your life beyond Youth2Youth?
One of the main skills I learned in Youth2Youth was how to be a leader and a role model to students and other people in the community. As a 4k teacher, I now have to be a role model every day to these students who are coming to school for the first.
What advice would you like to give to today’s youth?
The biggest piece of advice I would give is to follow your dreams. It’s going to be difficult at some point, but if it’s something you love doing, the amount of work you put into it will be worth it.
